OOTD x 2! On the little things...

Do you ever put on an outfit and think... something is just off? But, you have no clue what it is? That's how I felt this morning:

Something about this just didn't work for me. I couldn't put my finger on whether it was the belt, the shoes, etc.

Luckily, my friend Oliver was chatting me up online about a jacket he wanted to purchase on Gilt. His verdict after seeing the above outfit?

Oliver: "I like it. If I had a criticism it just looks kind of wrinkled, but I don't know if that's just the material or whatever"

I think he hit the nail on the head! I felt frumpy because the dress wasn't ironed! Honestly, unless the wrinkles are pretty in your face, I rarely think about ironing. It just does not enter my thoughts as being a component of the outfit. But it's these little details - the crispness of the material - that can make all the difference between looking like a million bucks or like you just crawled out of bed.

What do y'all think? Was it the wrinkles or something else? Do y'all iron your clothes? I have a steamer that can take out some wrinkles, but it would never get the fabric as crisp as an iron would.

With no time to iron before my meetings, I made a quick switch to jeans (ah the old standby). I'll try to return to the old outfit another time (after ironing) as I like it's old timey army gal vibe.

OOTD specs
AByer nude lace top sz S (had since high school)
Lisa Skinny Jeans by Fire Jeans sz 5 (thrifted $7)
Xhilaration raspberry pumps (thrifted NWT $7)

That dress is super cute, so do iron it and wear it often!! I love how it accents your tiny waist :)

I loath ironing but yes, I do iron...I have to. I sometimes forget things in the dryer so they get all wrinkled. I am in the market for a steamer though which I heard makes it easier.

WooHoo! The minute I saw the dress, I knew this was not you going out the door looking wrinkled. I have seen enough to know you wouldn't do it.

I am the iron queen. Every single night. Clothing does not go back in my organized closet unless it's been ironed. There is nothing as frustrating as being in a hurry and finding one element of your outfit needs to be ironed.

I started with the WooHoo for those Red thrifted shoes. I actually wasn't sure how I felt about them with the cargo dress. But they are perfect with the dark denim.

Hey Lori
I think that dress needs just a tiny bit of an iron. I don't like wearing un-ironed clothing, it makes me look sloppy.
Ironing is not my fave task, but someone has to do it! I also iron my husband's shirts - you know how difficult it is to iron the sleeves alone?????!
And cute red shoes - i like!
Cheers

Thanks Ladies! I will definitely get to ironing this soon! I can do a before and after pic, lol.

@Cindi, I have the Tobi garment steamer that Costco was selling for awhile. I really like it for most things, but lately I seem to be hanging a lot of things on it, and not getting around to steaming them.. oops!

@Laura your comment totally made me smile. I love that you knew it was not me going out the door! That's pretty amazing! And I <3 these new shoes. I had no idea how much I would, but I felt totally cute in them all day. And they were surprisingly comfortable!

@Jen wow. You are so nice to your husband to iron his shirts! Early on in our couple-hood, my husband convinced me that he should just be allowed to get them washed and pressed at the dry cleaner. I tried doing that with my shirts a couple times, but the presses aren't sized for women's clothes and it ripped some of my shirts.

Great shoes! I love them in both outfits.

I try to iron most things, though it is a bit pointless because the wrinkles return as soon as I sit down. But I think extra time ironing is one of the number one reasons I'm always running late! Maybe I should take a cue from Laura and iron things before they go back!

I definitely need to iron more of my clothes, but admittedly my situation is a little strange. Both of those outfits are super cute, but I love that dress! Those shoes are great too! And I have to say thank you so much for all those wonderful comments you left on my blog the other day! Thank you!! :)
