OOTD in two different lighting conditions

So today I thought it would be interesting to show you two different views of today's OOTD. I had mentioned how the different lighting can really affect how my pictures turn out. I didn't actually plan to do this comparison, but I thought I didn't like my morning pics, so I took some when I got home too. It was only then that I thought about comparing the two. And looking back at the morning pics, they're not as bad as I originally thought. I just forgot to hide the remote A LOT, lol.

Also, a few of you asked a couple of posts ago if I use a tripod. I do! :) My husband is too sleepy in the mornings to be my photographer. I normally set up the tripod in a location and take a test shot to make sure I'm in the frame and in-focus. The camera also refocuses each time I take a pic (since I leave it on automatic focus usually), and I just hope that at least a few of them will be in focus enough... Maybe sometime I'll set up my point and shoot on a tripod to take pics of me taking pics of myself (to show y'all the set-up). It will be very meta.

Anyway, as usual this morning, I was late running out the door, so I snapped these first few photos at 8am. I think it was slightly cloudy.

This is me trying to show how cold it is by blowing out my mouth... but the warm puff of my breath didn't show up in the photo

Y'all know I've been super into layers again now that it's gotten chillier here. I've been playing with having interesting hemlines peak out from my blazers.

This is the lighting when I got home after a very eventful day. It was around 5pm, and it was already getting dark (these pics look a lot lighter than I recall it being). So I ran out to try to grab some pics as fast as I could.

Since I had JUST gotten home, Buddie was really excited and kept trying to get a guest role in my pics.

So what do you think about the difference between the two lighting conditions? They gave very different visual effects and feelings to the photos. Plus, I was awake+freezing in the morning, and tired+bedraggled in the afternoon. All these things, the lighting, temperature, my feelings, probably contribute to the outcome of the photos.

In other news, yesterday at the Betsey Johnson event I was asked for my business card - my blogging business card - a couple times. Funny enough, I had already decided to get some. But I actually hadn't ever anticipated being asked for them :) I'm mentioning this because I'm ordering my Moo minicards this weekend. Moo has free shipping on your entire order through this Sunday, Oct 17 if you get minicards ($20 for 100 minicards). If you're interested, the offercode is: V72MRA. I got my non-blog cards through them and I LOVE them! Great colors and great paper weight.

That's so funny, I just ordered Moo minicards a week ago (but not for my blog) and they'll be here on Wednesday! I'm super excited for them, and can't wait to see how yours turned out.

I'm loving the lighting in the second batch of pictures. Golden hour is just beautiful in pictures!

I'm always a fan of meta!! I really think I like both sets of pictures! I mean, sometimes I think there is no such thing as a bad picture, just different styles. The first pictures have good lighting, and the second set have your dog! I also really like the outfit! The blazer is a definitely an unexpected touch, but it totally works! Very cool! :)

Hey Lori
I agree with Cindy, I like the second lot of pictures better (not that the first aren't good or anything, they are fab too!). You just can;t beat golden hour! That picture of you with your lips pursed is so funny!

Very creative outfit Lori! You never cease to amaze me with what you can do!
Cheers

I really like the effect of the layering. The stripes under the blazer looks really unique.

I'm not sure which lighting I like better, but I always like pictures with dogs in them the best.

The use of layering is great!

I love the layering, especially the unexpected green/white striped cardigan. I love the afternoon/evening photos. I wish I had the energy at the end of the day to take pictures but I'm so exhausted and usually in a hurry to change and get dinner ready.

Thanks for the promo code!I ordered some blog cards. Not sure what I'll need them for but I think it will be nice to have them.

Both pictures are great, but I love the afternoon lighting! I think that is supposed to be the "golden hour" or whatever for picture taking, the hour before the sun sets. Of course, I'm never home at that time! And if I am, my clothes usually get wrinkled to all heck ;)

Lori,

First thing that came to my mind.
Magician! You don't have to agree with me hehe I don't know something about that blazer over the stripy shirt reminds me of it~

You look so playful and cheerful as always, your posts and pictures make me smild and get me uplifted!

Ack sorry everyone for being so behind on comments!

@Cindy I love Moo! Have you ordered from them before? I'll bet your cards are going to be gorgeous. You've got such a beautiful design aesthetic!

@Matt That's a very positive way of looking at things. hehe, but I can think of some very bad pictures I've taken, lol. Including one of me that will be on Lisa's blog (respect the shoes) later this week :)

@Tara Thanks! I'm glad you popped over here! :)

@Vintageglammz thanks! I think I like the second set better too. The drama of the Golden Hour is hard to beat!

@Mich it's a good thing my dog always photobombs my OOTD pics. There are a lot more pics to like then :)

@theanthropologieconnoisseur thanks!

@Courtnee I'm so glad the code was helpful to you! I'd love to see your finished blog cards when you get them too!!

@Goldenmeans yes, luckily this outfit was decently wrinkle-proof. I have some skirts and dresses that are def wrinkled messes at the end of the day!

@LilMissSeamstress lol. I'm happy I can bring a smile to people!

@Kayla IKR? I was so excited to find them!
